P-CEP DECA District Conference Results
January, 2012: Close to 1,000 student members of Michigan DECA were invited to compete in the District 5 DECA Conference held at Eastern Michigan University on January 12th. Students were required to show business professionals and volunteer judges that they have the skills to become the world’s future workforce leaders.
The conference was an opportunity for business professionals to interact one-on-one with students educated in the free-enterprise system, and to get a sneak peek at their potential future employees.
The Plymouth Canton DECA Chapter took 72 of their DECA members to compete for the right to advance to Michigan DECA’s State Career Development Conference (SCDC) held annually in March at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn. Forty-one of the 72 students will advance to the State Conference, while many earned medals for their outstanding performance on their exam or role play. Out of over 2,500 students competing at the state conference, an elite group will be chosen to represent Michigan at DECA’s annual International Career Development Conference (ICDC), in Salt Lake City Utah, where they will compete with the best 12,000 DECA members representing chapters across the country.
Our students competed in many of the 20 events designed to help students learn skills for careers in marketing, management, merchandising and entrepreneurship. Regardless of the event, every competition provides a constructive avenue for individual and team expression, initiative and creativity. The student members listed below demonstrated their acquired skills and was recognized on stage in front of their peers as the top marketing students in Michigan.
